- Be physically in Canada.
- Fulfill the residency requirement: spending at least 730 days (2 years) in Canada within the last 5 years.
- Not be under a removal order or have lost your PR status.
Canadian Citizenship:
Becoming a citizen gives you the full rights and privileges of being Canadian, including voting and obtaining a Canadian passport.
Eligibility requirements:
- Be a permanent resident.
- Have resided in Canada for a minimum of 1,095 days (3 years) within the last 5 years before submitting your application
- Comply with income tax filing requirements.
- Pass a citizenship examination (for individuals aged 18–54).
- Show evidence of language ability in either English or French.
Citizenship by Descent:
A child may automatically be a Canadian citizen at birth if:
- At least one parent was a Canadian citizen at the time of the child’s birth, and

Important note:
• Citizenship by descent applies only to the first generation born abroad. If a Canadian citizen born outside Canada has children outside Canada, those children will not automatically be citizens and must apply for PR first.
